At its core, Another World is an exploration of humanity in the face of absolute oppression. It is by all means both narratively ambitious and visually stunning, if not occasionally messy, but for most of its duration this film is just so bleak, I don't think I could actually recommend this to anyone. That what is essentially an art-house animated feature, a debut film nonetheless, was able to acquire the talent it did is nothing short of a miracle too.
I do think the film could have toned down the Japanese anime-esque action sequences; beautifully animated, yes, but detracts more than it contributes to the poetic storytelling.
