What a joy to watch. While I enjoyed Long Day's Journey into Night more, this is undeniably an incredible technical accomplishment. The film's narrative is of lesser importance here to what the director is trying to tell about cinema and where it's heading, as Resurrection navigates in a dreamlike manner a century of (Chinese) cinema, encompassing a wide range of genres and techniques. There are plenty of self-congratulatory films about film, but this is truly the one all-time must see.
Also, there are so many cool things happening with the long tracking shot, from the POV switch and the timespan to the boat sequence and part of the boat's front window being used to switch between widescreen and 16:9 aspect ratios.
