Nice little character study exploring the immediate surrounding impact of someone that mythologizes their own emotional immaturity and fear of commitment.
I like how it deconstructs some tropes. I thought this would be a "love is like a volcano: it is destructive but for a brief moment it is beautiful and all powerful" kind of film but it quickly shifts not just to how Bethany is in fact the volcano, it is entirely a narrative of her own making; using Nel as a prop to distance herself from anyone that remotely cares.
Also like how it both plays into, from Bethany's perspective, and subverts, from Rob's perspective, the classic "European city as a main character trope."
I do wonder how many people will watch this and low-key identify with Charli xcx's character.
