Blue Giant, an animated adaption of the eponymous graphic novel chronicling the rise of a starting Jazz musician, is a wonderful and sometimes moving love letter to Jazz, elevated by a brilliant soundtrack composed and performed by the ever so talented Uehara Hiromi.
In terms of its story beats, Blue Giant is standard fair with the necessary drama at the right moments, but the excellent pacing, sound design, art and musical direction definitely make it stand out above its competition in the band anime genre.
